31st Mar 2018

Ever wonder what is the mean of the rose you are giving? Roses have inspired people over the centuries to develop a language of roses by ascribing meanings to colors, variety and numbers of roses being given. Traditionally the rose is considered the flower of love; nothing beats red roses in sending your love on Valentine's day.

Here at Chappell's we are often asked the meaning of a certain color of rose.

Rose Flower Meanings based on Color and Quanity:

Red Rose-A red rose is an unmistakable expression of love.Red Roses convey deep emotions, be it love, longin or desire. Red roses can also convey respect, longing or devotion. A deep red rose can be used to convey heartfelt regret and sorrow.

The number of roses has a special romantic meaning associated with them. 12 red roses is the most popular conveying "I love you" and "Be mine".  One red rose means love at first sight.  Two roses means mutual love and affection. Three roses is the traditional 3 month Anniversary and also mean "I love you". Six roses means I want to be yours. Nine roses means I want to be yours forever. Ten roses means you are a perfect "10". Thirteen roses may be considered a Baker's dozen, but it has two other meanings: You have a secret admirer or you'll be friends forever.  Fifteen roses conveys "I apologize". Twenty roses means "Believe me, I am sincere for you."  Twenty one roses means "I am dedicated to you. " If one dozen roses means " I love you" then two dozen says " I'm yours ". Twenty five roses mean " Congratulations! " ,  Thirty six roses means "Big spender" and  " I'm head over heels in love", forty roses says what no smaller number can - " My love for you is genuine". Fifty roses or more conveys "My love, like my wallet, knows no bounds!"

White Roses convey purity, chastity and innocence. White roses are generally associated with new beginnings of which a wedding is the best example. White flowers are also commonly given as a sympathy gift and convey spirituality.

Yellow roses area an expression of exuberance. Yellow sends the message of joy, warmth, friendship and caring. The yellow rose, unlike other colors does not convey romance.

There are several variations of the pink rose. Over all, all pink roses are expressions of joy and gratitude.

While yellow roses remind us of the sun, orange suggest fire. The fiery bloom signify passion and energy. These flowers rival only the red roses as a passionate messenger.

A lavender rose like its color conveys enchantment. It also expresses "love at first sight".Darker shades of purple speak of "Majesty".

A perfectly blue rose is still as elusive as a black rose. Blue can not be achieved in nature, so they represent the mysterious and unattainable.

Green is the color of fertility and harmony. They offer good wishes for a prosperous life.

Black is the color that conveys death of a feeling or farewell. All black roses are really a really dark red variety.

By mixing different colors of roses, you can convey an interesting array of feelings and meanings.
