Boo! Flowers for Halloween and Sunny Autumn in Vermont

Posted by Diane on 1st Oct 2018

So I don't know about you, but brightly colored Autumn flowers are my favorite. Orange hues leaning toward the red genre are trendy this year and add a pop of purple for a tonal offset. Flower choices change year to year but perennial favorites include sun flowers, chrysanthemums, orange & peach lilies, pumpkin colored gerbera daisies, tall grasses, amaranth, and fruits on stems with leaves like blackberries. Bouquets in this season are richer in texture, combining velvety lambs ears, textured cockscomb, fluffy ferns, octagonal lotus pods and lush foliage. A familiar and popular puff of a flower is the giant pink and green blush hydrangea. If picked in the wild, they season and dry for winter enjoyment.

And then rides in Halloween. This scary holiday may seen like an odd time to decorate with flowers, but an imaginative Halloween bouquet and Home decorations can prove to be just the added touch to the atmosphere. Let your imagination carry you to orange gerberas mimicking pumpkins and Japanese lanterns hangin on stems, and on to the relatively "new" dark red rose that is almost black and a black calla lily tucked into a cut out fresh garden gourd made for the occasion. And for many people, Halloween is more than just a day for kids; it's the start of the season of bounty. A home decorated for the holidays contains all the scents and colors of fall and the cooler seasons. Creativity can run wild in this most frolicky time, and friends and loved ones will swoon over a perfectly unique creation. A wild and nature filled wreath or swag for the entry, a welcoming and scary "boo-quet" for the foyer and a basket overflowing with seasonal colored flowers, gourds, autumn foliage, and branches with swinging ghouls and goblin cut-outs will carry the fun on the buffet. Bring in the freshness and foliage of the outdoors, with a wicked twist !
